[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. [00:00:12] Speaker B: Hello, everyone. Welcome back to our Hanyu Chinese Podcast. I'm Emily and This is the fourth episode of our HSK1 masterclass. So for today's lesson, we're going to be looking into more about introducing yourself. Did you guys remember that on the previous episode we looked into things like how to say your name, Emily. Then we looked into things like how to say your nationality, this kind of sentence. So today we're going to dive into something very useful is to introduce your professional. For example, I am a teacher, you are a student. This kind of useful sentence. Then we're going to be focusing on a really important word that is, which means also. So you won't want to miss out. Okay, like always, let's start with a video first. Let's take a look. [00:01:42] Speaker A: I'm Lori and. And today I'm giving the class from my favorite place, Chengdu's Panda Research Base. Today we will learn how to ask, who are you? How do we form this question in this order? You be who? Now, how should we answer? Remember, we replace the question pronoun with the answer we want to give, which is the interrogative pronoun in this question. Excellent. What can we answer? For instance, I'm a doctor, a teacher, or a Chinese student. Let's reply this question by saying I am a teacher. Teacher is pronounced Lao sh. Then we have to say I be teacher. Very good. How can we say I am a Chinese teacher? Very easy. I be Chinese teacher. That's the order. How would you say it? Well done. I am sure you answered well. To complicate things a little bit more, let's learn the adverb to or also in Chinese, this word is ye and it always goes before the verb. In this case, before the verb to be. So how would you say I'm also a Chinese teacher? Excellent. Let's see another example. I too can write some characters. And the answer is I am sure you did it well. I say bye from Chengdu with this panda. I love him. It's so cute. I hope to see you again soon. Bye. [00:04:26] Speaker B: Bye. Very well. So did you guys look into the video? Did you liked it? I love pandas. Pandas are so cute. So, before we continue, thank you to be here with us until now. If you like the program, please please hit us like button and subscribe to our channel. So then, now we're gonna talk about what we saw in the video. Okay, so let's review some key points. First, how do we ask about who are you? Very well. And then to respond, we put the we take it out and then we put our answer right in it so the structure does not change. And then for response you could say I am a teacher. And then if you want to say you are a student, how would you say it? Very well. Good. So remember we put it the put it in the first and then the verb later on we put what the professional. You want to put it in this place? Very good. So then we're going to look at the other verb that we saw in the video. Do you remember where to put this? Very well. Right in front of the verb. So it means also you can say I am a teacher, I'm also a doctor. Very good. And then we can also say something like I'm a teacher. I can speak Chinese. I can also write in Chinese characters. Very well. Very well. So now it's your turn. Please try to introduce yourself using the structure. And also if you could also use the verb, then the verb that would be perfect. So you can say was. Any sentence is really welcome. Please leave us a comment down in the comment section down below and then we will check it for you. Okay? Very well.
