[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. Hi everyone. Huan Ying Da Jia. Welcome. I'm Emily and this is Hanyu Chinese School Podcast. So this is the third episode of our HSK1 Masterclass. Already. Are you guys excited? I hope you guys are, because I am really looking forward to this episode. We are going to talk about the nationality in Chinese. Why am I so looking forward to it? Because when you are going to travel to China or coming to Taiwan, Very welcome. You will be hearing a lot of sentences like or. So what does it mean? It basically means that where are you from? Which country are you from? So if you want to know how to ask this kind of questions, how to meet new people, know new people, and how, more importantly, how to answer them, please watch this episode. This is going to be super important and super useful to all of you guys. Okay, like always, let's start with the video first. [00:01:45] Speaker B: Hello everyone. I'm Le Fei and today I'm in Shanghai. In this lesson, we'll learn how to say, where are you from? In order to know how to ask this question. Today we'll learn the verb to be. It's sh. I said before, in Chinese, verbs do not change in form. Instead, we use the infinitive form. That is why every time we use the verb to be, no matter the person, I, you, he, we, we say to ask, where are you from? It will be you be which country? Person. Excellent. We now have the structure of the question. In our previous lesson, we learned how to reply to answers in Chinese. Remember, you have to replace the interactive pronoun with the answer in this case, which is the interrogative pronoun. That's right. So we must simply replace that with the name of the country we want. The name of most countries has the character Kuo country at the end, but not all of them. This is important because if the character kuo is absent, we shouldn't add it in when we answered. Let's answer it. For example, how do we say I am Chinese? The answer is quite logical, right? I'll be China person. I'm Chinese. The Chinese language is so logical. And now, how do we say I'm Spanish? Correct. This has been today's class. I say goodbye from Shanghai. Wow, it's crowded here. [00:04:39] Speaker A: Okay, well done. Very good. I hope you guys like the video. So before we continue, don't remember to like and subscribe our channel. What did you guys remember? How do we said where are you from? Very good, very good. So means which. So which country? Which, which. Which country? Nationality? Which country person you are? This is basically, if we break it down by word to word, this is what it means. So basically it is which country are you from? And then for responding, blah blah blah. So this and this, blah blah blah, you can put whatever country that you are from, for example, I'm Chinese or Spanish. Did you guys get it correct? Okay, so very good. So we are very, very, very happy that you guys stayed until the end of this video. So for the homework today, if you guys have time, please drop us a comment. We would like to know, how do you say I'm from which country? To introduce your own nationality to us, Please try to write it down in this comment section down below. It could be in Pinyin or in characters. It's both. Fine. We will be really, really happy to see your comments. So please feel free to write it down. Okay? Okay.
